Privacy policy
Last updated 30 September 2026
This explains what personal information GA-EFB uses, why, and your rights. GA-EFB is made by Leon Giscombe, a sole trader in England, who is responsible for your information (the "controller"). Contact: leontgiscombe@hotmail.com.
What we collect
- Your GA-EFB account: your email address and password. The password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form by our account provider.
- Your licence: when your free trial started, and whether your account has bought GA-EFB (or which licence key is tied to it).
- What you keep in GA-EFB, so it's the same on all your devices: your logbook, landings, plogs, notes, aircraft profiles, settings and preferences, and a profile picture if you add one. Any usernames and keys you enter for other services (such as SimBrief) are kept with them.
- Your purchase: Stripe tells us your name, email address, country, what you bought, and whether it was refunded. We keep a record of the purchase with your account, so it's licensed on all your devices. We never see your card details.
- Emails you send us, if you get in touch.
GA-EFB doesn't show adverts, doesn't track you for advertising and doesn't sell your information. This website doesn't use cookies or analytics.
Why we use it
- To run your account, your licence and GA-EFB itself, including keeping your data the same on your devices. This is needed for our agreement with you (the "contract" legal basis).
- To stop the free trial, purchases or licence keys being misused. This is our legitimate interest in selling GA-EFB fairly.
- To keep sales records, which the law requires.
- To answer your emails.
Who else handles it
- Supabase stores GA-EFB accounts, licences and the data you keep in GA-EFB.
- Stripe sells GA-EFB for us and handles payments, tax, receipts and refunds. Its own privacy policy covers your purchase.
- GitHub hosts this website and GA-EFB's downloads and updates, and sees your IP address when you use them.
Some of these companies may handle information outside the UK. Where they do, they protect it as UK data protection law requires, for example with the UK's approved contract terms.
GA-EFB runs on your own PC. To show you weather, maps, airspace, charts and other information, it contacts those services directly from your PC (for example aviationweather.gov, openAIP, OpenStreetMap, Open-Meteo, SimBrief and VATSIM, depending on the features you use). Those services receive your IP address, and anything you choose to use with them (such as your SimBrief username), under their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and data while you have a GA-EFB account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and your data, apart from records we must keep by law, such as sales records, which are kept for six years. To stop the free trial being used twice, we keep a one-way scrambled fingerprint of your email address, from which the address can't be read back.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or take a copy of your information, and object to or limit how we use it. Email leontgiscombe@hotmail.com and we'll reply within a month. GA-EFB's Back Up & Restore also lets you save a copy of your data at any time.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Children
GA-EFB isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in GA-EFB about any important change.
